Finding the Higgs boson is the key to whether Higgs' hypothesis for the origin of mass is indeed correct, and whether the Standard Model will survive. A small number of events have been reported that could be interpreted as resulting from Higgs bosons, but the evidence so far is not conclusive. The most probable mass for a Higgs boson is approximately 90 GeV.
